Back to school ministry a huge success! Asked if there was any interest in supporting an adopt-a-child program through Helping Hand House, the FCC Puyallup congregation responded! Through your generosity, HHH ran out of kids! In very short order we were able to provide school supplies for:
Your generosity is astounding and humbling! |

Our Participation in a Sheltering Ministry In November 2006, our church began its participation in Freezing Nights, a Puyallup-based ministry that provides for persons in need of shelter when the temperatures dip during cold months. FCC Puyallup is partners with other churches who, on a rotation, provide shelter and meals via this established ministry - again this year our congregation will host on Friday nights. Freezing Nights - another season completed... and well done! Our fourth year in the Puyallup sheltering ministry Freezing Nights is complete. FCC Puyallup hosted EVERY Friday night from November through March. Thanks to all who participated through donations of supplies or time both Friday nights and throughout the season. Check out a year-end slideshow of some of guests and volunteers! Watch a 2007 Freezing Nights video here. How to Help: We have an ongoing need for consumable supplies. Here are just a few:

Beginning in July, First Christian Church will host a drop-in center for those in the community without shelter. Nicknamed The Hangout, the center will be located in the last two classrooms of the Education Wing and will be open M, W, F, 1-5 pm. The rooms will provide resources for guests to find other homelessness support agencies, networking and transportation options, employment and housing opportunities, and a chance to rest quietly, get out of the heat, read, watch movies, play games, and share fellowship. The program will run on a trial basis and be evaluated in August to determine its future. Guests will enter at the Education Wing door with access limited to the two classrooms and the restroom by the library. An extension of Freezing Nights, the sheltering ministry FCC has been part of since 2006, all guidelines applying to the existing program will apply to The Hangout. All guests and volunteers will be screened and will sign in on each visit, and the center will be staffed by two volunteers at all times. To help, please contact Bonnie Goddard. |

Our Participation in a Homeowners Ministry In the summer of 2009, several volunteers from FCC Puyallup, led by Connie Robey, banded together in hot weather to paint the home of a deserving (and grateful!) homeowner.
