12/31/2004 Special notice to friends of FCC Puyallup - How you can help: The death toll from the earthquake and tsunamis in the Indian Ocean is approaching 125,000 people. With thousands still missing and the outbreak of diseases increasingly imminent, those numbers will continue to rise. Millions of people have been displaced and are in pressing need of food, shelter, water and basic necessities. Sunday bulletins for the next couple of weeks will have envelopes for Week of Compassion donations. All donations will be sent in their entirety to Church World Service for tsunami relief efforts. Please consider whether you can give a donation to support the relief effort. In addition, our children and youth will be assembling health kits to be sent to CWS. We are accepting donations of items or money for the health kits. Each health kit will contain:
Seal all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure. Or, if you prefer, a donation of $12 will allow Church World Service to provide a Health Kit. Processing/Shipping: $1.00 Please consider your ability to support relief efforts in this time of immediate and dire need. For more information, contact Pastor Nancy, Robin Crabb, or the church office. |

Update 1/6/05: In less than one week's time, we have the makings of 60 donated kits! We will have enough to complete 100 kits on Sunday (in Faith Trek Sunday School) and we will send those off right away. |

We have $90 in donations for the kits (not counting the Week of Compassion tsunami victims donations), which we can put to shipping/handling. The rest will come from the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. Church World Service will determine the location in greatest need and distribute them appropriately. Thanks for the generous donations of so many! Update 1/9/05: Our Faith Trek classes finished up the health kits and thanks to the gifts of generous donors, were able to compile 104 complete kits. The kits were presented and blessed with our offering during worship. Any leftover items will go to Exodus Housing (transitional housing; December's centennial mission). |
