Journey of Discovery: Living into God’s Call / PaTH (Practicing and Teaching Hope)
PaTH: Practicing and Teaching HopeIn 2005 our church board affirmed our congregation’s participation in a three-year transformation process called Journey of Discovery: Living into God’s call.  No “quick fix, it's a prayerful, scripture-based journey for our congregation to discern together God's call to us in our community.  PaTH (Practicing and Teaching Hope) is the working name chosen for our congregation's transformation process.

In 2005 we celebrated 100 years.  Now we're beginning a new journey; through prayer and study we'll listen as the guiding Spirit of God calls us to faithful discipleship now and in the future.  Join us on the PaTH!  CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE MORE ABOUT PaTH

PaTH Conversations:
Phase III - Discerning God's Call -
Congratulations to our Vision Panel and our entire congregation!  Together we have crafted a Guiding Vision statement that will be our stepping stone into the future God dreams for us.  Read the Guiding Vision here

COMING UP -
  ▪  Thanks to the 25 people who attended the Missional Strategy workshop on April 26th, we received many ideas and input for the continuing PaTH process.  This information will be handed over to a writing team to draft a Missional Strategy document.  The draft will be shared with small groups and the congregation for input before it is finalized.

  ▪  The PaTH Conference on the Future will be held on Saturday, June 21st and will celebrate our current transformation work and creative exploration of our next steps.  Mark your calendars now, and get ready to be inspired.

A very special congratulations and thank you!
During our very first quarterly mission in (January, February, March 2008) the congregation outdid themselves!  We collected $700 in cash, over 150 hours of food-related community service and 387 food and non-perishable items.  The $700 came in though personal donations, the Souper Bowl of Caring and Week of Compassion contributions.  The food and non-food essential items will go to FISH Food Bank and Exodus Housing.

Thank you again for your prayerful giving and caring for those in need.  The way the congregation responds with open hearts and minds, there is no reason we can't go over the top during the next quarter!

Our mission emphases continue!
Each month through our 100th year we were faithful to gathering "100" of something in mission... due to popular demand, the monthly mission projects continued through 2007.

Starting in 2008 - we began expanding our missions in order to be even more far-reaching.
Quarterly missions began with 2008.  Your input is invited -
drop a suggestion in the box in the foyer or contact Katie Peterson, Outreach Chair

April/May/June's Mission is: Caring for Creation/A Focus on the Environment

Because we take seriously our role as stewards of God's creation, our emphasized mission for April, May, and June will highlight environmental issues.  During the three-month period we’ll collect donations for shares of a deep water well, add up community service hours spent in environmentally friendly activities, and learn together about what we as individuals and the church can do to be responsible owners of an amazing gift.  As the project unfolds, look and listen for more information.

Lunch with a Friend - Feeding the hungry
Every third Saturday of the month from 10 am - noon at Peace Lutheran Church (214 E Pioneer), members and friends of FCC Puyallup join together for Lunch with a Friend to feed the hungry in our community.  If you'd like to help by donating time or supplies, contact the church office.

Sheltering the least of these among us on freezing nights

We have now completed two years of community service with our Freezing Nights program. It has  proven more successful than ever thanks to all who participated with time, supplies, donations and elbow grease and with the season over we are now looking forward to next year.

Is Tonight a "Freezing Night?"
See if the temp will be 37° or below:

Freezing Nights is a Puyallup-based ministry that provides for persons in need of shelter during cold weather.  FCC Puyallup is partnering with other churches who, on a rotation, provide shelter and meals via this established ministry.  There are many ways to help.  For more information on how you can support this important cause, contact our site coordinator, Dave Patterson.

The Weather Channel (Weather.com)

(During the cold months, our church calendar lists all scheduled host dates for Freezing Nights.  To confirm, visit www.weather.com.  If the next night's forecast for zip code 98371 is 3 or below, it's a go!)

Youth volunteer training
Part of our commitment to the youth of our congregation includes our Child Abuse Prevention Policy (CAPP).  This policy states all church employees and volunteers who work with children and/or youth must complete the training.  The training provides information about the unfortunate realities concerning child sexual abuse, and outlines our policies aimed at reducing the risk of such abuse.  Read our Child Abuse Protection Policy

100 Years of ministry & fellowship
From October 2004 to October 2005 we commemorated our first century with fellowship, remembrances, tributes, guests, mission projects, and fun!  We've taken a look into our future by starting new ministries and revitalizing existing ones.

200 years ago, the seeds of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) took root, and for 100 years First Christian Church of Puyallup has faithfully sown its service and ministries within our congregation, community, and the global parish.  We have much to celebrate!
