On the Sabbath. In the synagogue. Jesus sees her, an unnamed woman, bent over, unable to stand tall. He has proclaimed release for the captives, and now in a moment of compassion Jesus frees her from bondage.
In its worship and its ministry the church is called to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, to be agents of liberation, to work for freedom and deliverance for all who live in captivity and fear. (Luke 13:10-17)
