Under cover of darkness, a religious leader comes to Jesus for conversation. Nicodemus finds more than he bargained for–Jesus pushes him outside of his comfort zone, challenging his presuppositions about spirituality and the life of faith. You won’t understand what I’m doing, Jesus says, unless you are born anew. Being born anew–is not something we accomplish by ourselves, rather it involves an openness, a vulnerability to the workings of the Spirit of God in our lives.
