Prayer of Confession        Adapted, James Hart Brumm

We are coming unraveled, O God,
pulled apart from every angle,
because we have each chosen our own way,
forgetting the common good,
the universal good,
your true good.
We are in need of a way back
from the messes we make for ourselves,
because we have, too often, rejected your way
to true peace, true wholeness.
We are lost, and we need Christ to come quickly.

(silence is kept)

Come, Lord Jesus; forgive us and restore us.
Come, Lord Jesus; guide us and deliver us.
Come, Lord Jesus; teach us and renew us.
Come, Lord Jesus. Come.

Assurance of Pardon

Hear the good news:  God looks with favor upon us.
God’s mercy flows without ceasing.
Thanks be to God, the Lord of all life.
Amen.

Acknowledgement of Land

(An act towards reconciliation)

For thousands of years, First Nations people have walked on this land; their relationship with the land is at the center of their lives and spirituality.  We are gathered on the traditional territory of the Coastal Salish and Puyallup people, and we acknowledge their stewardship of this land throughout the ages.

Let the fires of your justice burn

Closing Benediction        Way of Peace Christmas Benediction        Carol Penner

By the tender mercy of our God
love has broken upon us!
Light is given where once there was darkness
and hope where there was only death.
We go into this season knowing
that God will guide our feet into the way of peace.
Amen.

  .

Closing Song        Love Is Still the Answer        Jason Mraz

The question is why,
Why are we here?
To say our hellos and goodbyes, and disappear?
This beautiful life, what is it for?
To learn how to master peace or master war?
